The contrast of black and white never fails to bring a dramatic element to any space:

City Lights

This was a perfect sunday afternoon. Chris and I ate at Pipa, a tapas restaurant on 19th Street between Broadway and Park. We had the most delicious brunch. I had Smoked Salmon Benedict which was comprised of two poached eggs, smoked salmon, potato pancakes, mascarpone cheese and hollandaise sauce. My boyfriend had strawberry pancakes with warm strawberry maple syrup. AMAZING.

Pipa is so beautiful. There are dozens of sparkling chandeliers hanging from the rafters. Its a great date spot or place to go with friends.

The sparkling lights theme continued with our trip to Madison Square Park. There is a beautiful art installation in the middle of the park that is comprised of hundred of light bulbs hanging from wires. At night its absolutely stunning to see these suspended shimmering lights in the middle of the park.

This light installation is very adaptable to a in-home light installation. All you need is a couple of these cords from Ikea. The product is called the HEMMA cord set and runs about $3.99

Then you add the light bulb and ...WHA-LA! These are some great examples from Apartment Therapy:

These are a few of my favorite things...

Im spreading out the holiday joy by posting this in January. I wish it was still Christmas time!

The Holiday Season is one of the my favorite times of year. Tree ornaments, garland, the smell of pine trees, Christmas cookies, snuggling up by the fire, gift giving, EATING, wrapping presents, planning holiday parties....what's not to love?

Here are a few shots from my holiday dinner party on December 11th. This was the first time I cooked for 16 people! (oh and actually SAT 16 people at a dinner table) We had ham, sauteed asparagus, potato skins, salad, gorgonzola and sausage stuffed mushrooms, ziti with marinara sauce, red velvet cupcakes for dessert, and of course...LOTS OF WINE. There were only a few minor hiccups (like dropping the mushrooms on the floor), but other than that i would consider the night a success!

Looking forward to another dinner party on Jan. 22. Asian Fusion. Can't wait!

Inspiration: Translation

INSPIRATION:

TRANSLATION:

First I mapped out how I wanted the pictures to look on the wall.

Then it was time to hang.

For the smaller pictures in the wall collage I took different cut-outs from images I found on the internet that spelled out Manhattan.

This is a great print I found on etsy.com by an artist called Dear Colleen. She has some really chuckle worthy prints that are super cool and definitely unique.

This was a surprising Ikea score! I loved the bold styling of the this print. The contrast of black and white with a few little pops of color were perfect for my relatively monochromatic space.
This was another print I fell in love with as soon as I saw it. I found it at Decor Art Gallery on 3rd Ave and 37th Street its from a company called Ork Posters. They create these neighborhood maps for cities all over the U.S. and Canada.

That's all for now.
